Birthday Parties
We organise a wide range of birthday parties for children aged 1-12 years old. Let us take the strain out of organising your child's party and arrange the fun for you.
Parties available:

Funflatable
The Funflatable is the most popular choice for ages 2-6yrs. This is a bouncy castle with obstructions to navigate around. To compliment this party we also use a small ball pond, a climbing unit and the instructor can play games using a parachute. This party lasts 50 mins with 30 minutes recommended for food.

Playscheme Policy and Procedure Information
Connaught Leisure Playscheme - OFSTED (Office for Standards in Education) registration number: 507919. Registered to provide Out of School Day Care.
Admissions Policy:
The scheme caters for 4-12 year olds.
Opening times are Part Day 9am-3.30pm and Full Day 9am-5.30pm. Fees are Part Day ?13 and Full Day ?15. Inclusion - all children are welcome to the play scheme. Standards of behaviour - frequent unacceptable, disruptive behaviour from children could result in the removal of the child from the play scheme.
Child Protection Policy:
At Connaught Leisure play scheme we intend to create an environment in which children are safe from abuse and in which any suspicion of abuse is promptly and appropriately responded to. In order to achieve this we have an appointed Child Protection Officer with the responsibility for minimising the risk of child abuse in the playscheme and it's operation.
The duties of the CPO include; Ensuring appropriate vetting procedures are in place during recruitment and selection, inducting staff on Child Protection issues, ensuring that staff have read and understood this policy, organising training for staff on child protection issues.
We will take up training opportunities for all staff to ensure they recognise the symptoms of possible physical abuse, neglect, emotional abuse and sexual abuse. Adults will not be left alone with individual children for long periods of time and precautionary measures will be taken; eg if a child needs to be taken aside for a 'time out' after unacceptable behaviour, the door will be left ajar. Changes in children's behaviour/appearance and inappropriate comments will be investigated. All minor accidents and incidents will be recorded on report forms. All suspicions and investigations will be kept confidential and shared only with those who need to know.
Procedure for non-collection of a child:
If a child is not collected by 20 minutes after their normal leaving time, the Duty Manager will check that nothing is written in the daybook changing their normal arrangements. They should then ask all members of staff if a message has been given to them that they have failed to record. Any staff members not on the premises who have had contact with the parent should also be contacted. The child must be kept occupied and re-assured if worried. The contact number on the child's enrolement form should then be telephoned, Dependant on the result, the emergency number may have to be telephoned to ensure the child's collection. The child should not be allowed to go with anyone other that the person agreed with the parent/carer. Identification should be sought if the the person is not known to the play scheme. Contact should be made with the authorities responsible in such a situation, eg OFSTED. A message should be left for the parent at their home and at the facility before leaving the child in the care of another person.
Child Illness Policy:
It is necesary to have a policy in place to limit the spread of infection to other children and staff. Therefore the children of staff or are unwell with an infectious illness should not attend the play scheme.
If during the day a child is found to be/become unwell, the supervisor should contact the parent/carer and arrange for the child to be collected from the play scheme.
Depending on the infection, an ill child should not attend the play scheme for at least 48 hours.
Confidentiality Policy:
Connaught Leisure Play Scheme's work with children sometimes bring us in to contact with confidential information. To ensure that all those using and working on the playscheme can do so with confidence, we will respect confidentiality in the following ways;
*Parents will have ready access to the files and records of their own children but will have no access to information about others.
*Staff will not discuss individual children, with anyone other than the parent/carer of that child. *Information given by parent/carer to the supervisor will not be passed on to other adults without permission. *Issues to do with the employment of staff, whether paid or unpaid, will remain confidential to the people directly involved with making personnel decisions.
*Any anxieties/evidence relating to a child's personal safety will be kept in a confidential file and will not be shared within the group except with the supervisor/manager.
Complaints Procedure:
We aim to provide the highest level of care for children attending Connaught Leisure Play Scheme. We endeavour to make each individual child feel welcome and to provide a warm and caring environment within which all children can develop as they play.
*We believe that children and parents are entitled to expect courtesy and prompt appropriate attention to their needs and wishes. We aim to work in partnership with parents and the community generally and welcome suggestions on how to improve the play scheme.
*A parent who is uneasy about any aspect of the play scheme provision should first of all discuss any worries or anxieties with the play scheme supervisor.
*If a satisfactory outcome is not reached promptly, or if the problem reoccurs the parent should speak directly to the centre Manager (or in his absence - in writing to him).
*The Manager will investigate the anxieties or complaint. A meeting with the parent/s can be arranged where either or both parties feel that this would be useful. An agreed written record of the meeting will be made.
*If the parent still feels that the matter is not sorted out to their satisfaction, they should again contact the Manager, who can hold a further review and advise the parent of the outcome.
*We believe that most complaints can be solved at an early stage and it is in the best interests of the play scheme parent/s and children that complaints are dealt with promptly and fairly.
**OFSTED registers and inspoects childcare for children aged from birth to 17 years. Registered childcare providers and childminders have to meet requirements that relate to safety, the people providing the care and the organisation of the childcare. Good for you snacks - Popcorn
Craving for a healthy snack on a night in? How about popcorn? A standard three-cup serving of air-popped popcorn contains just 93 calories and less than 1.5 grams of fat. These low-calories snacks are considered whole grains, which have some valuable antioxidants not found in fruits and vegetables. They also contain B vitamins, vitamin E, magnesium and fibre. Try to choose the plain version if possible and avoid the "buttery" or "caramel" microwave popcorn that may be loaded with calories, sugar and fats. |

The Power Half Hour
Only have 30 minutes for the gym? Make the most of it.
Trying to squeeze in a workout during your lunch break can be tough. But you can get an intense workout in just 30 minutes. The key? Keep your game-plan flexible.
START WITH THE RIGHT MACHINE
Any (and all) of them will do. "You need to do what's known as an indoor fartlek,". Rotating among the equipment with no rest periods keeps your body challenged and your interest high. You don't have enough time to get bored.
TAKE FIVE
Spend five minutes each on the bike, the cross-trainer, the treadmill, and the rower (or any four pieces of cardio equipment). The particular order doesn't matter, start with your least favourite apparatus. "You'll be at your freshest, and there's something invigorating about having tackled something you hate".
WORK UP A SWEAT
Do a two-minute warm-up on the first machine, then your first five-minute set. The intensity will depend on your own fitness level, using a scale: If 10 is the absolute hardest you can work, aim for a 7 or 8. Then jump to another available apparatus for a full five minutes, then another. On your fourth and final machine, perform your full, intense 5 minutes, then a 2- to 3-minute cool down.
HAVE A PLAN B
Don't let a crowded gym wreck your workout. "Come prepared for occupied equipment". Your best bet is to source a skipping rope. That way, if the apparatus you had your eye on is being used, you can spend the next five minutes skipping. "Most gyms will have some open space that you can use, and a skipping rope is a great calorie burner."
